Learning the BitmapData class for once. I was looking at [link] and I thought I'd see if I could integrate my 3D engine and do something like that.

Turned out alright, might make a new version.

I was thinking of may be making a open component for bitmap perlin noise rendering. Though for AS3...

Ah ok, still do it, sounds like a good idea.

Just wondering, I got the values of the perlin noise by using the getPixel function, but I'm not sure if that is how you do it.

Cool, glad to be an inspiration for something.
I'm going to release a newer version of mine, with the source for the height map being made from milk (its a long story lol).
